Your Own Choices and Starting a Mattress Sanitizing Business

In my last blog we talked about outside constraints that affect your decision whether or not to start a business and which type of business to start. Besides outside constraints, you may voluntarily limit your business opportunities by setting your own constraints. These constraints can manifest themselves in the work environment you prefer, the types of customers you would like to interact with or the work schedule you want to maintain.

Going back to the restaurant example, in running a restaurant you may have to deal with state inspectors, irate customers, or work nights, weekends and holidays, all in an effort to make a successful go of it. All of the sudden your dream of getting out of the rat race has turned into just another job. Leaving one depressing job to work at another one, which includes higher stakes, isn’t appealing to most. From being able to set your own hours, to being able to choose the customers you would like to serve, a mattress sanitizing service is personally appealing for many reasons.

At any rate, deciding which business to start isn’t an easy undertaking, but it’s an important prerequisite to entrepreneurship and will be one of the most important decisions you make. Don’t become so eager to be your own boss that you rush, or force, this decision. In the end, it’s not just about being your own boss, but rather doing what you love and enjoying the freedom that comes with doing what you love. For me a mattress sanitizing service is the perfect business to start based on my personal preferences.

What are some of the constraints you are placing on your business start-up choice?
